The Archive at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery contains thousands of files on a wide variety of local topics, events, places, and people. These files have been assembled over decades and are continually expanded by Archive staff and volunteers.
A limited number of subject and biographical files have been scanned and are available for viewing online, but the majority of these files are only available for research by visiting the archive.
Subject Files: packets of information containing newspaper clippings, student papers, government reports, and more. They are a great place to start researching local topics.
Biographical Files: clippings and reports on individuals and families from Fort Collins history. Some files include family histories created by researchers and donated to the Archive.
Ephemera Files: organized by subject and surnames and include fragile primary source materials like calling cards, original advertising, pamphlets, receipts, and building abstracts.
Photograph Files: organized into Fort Collins and Larimer County subjects and places. They contain collections of photographic prints, many of which have been scanned and are searchable online.
