Beyond occasional published reports of condition, filled with technicalities not generally understood, little direct information is given the average community in regard to the banks with which it does its business.
Considering the occasion, an entrance to a new home is an appropriate time for a brief statement of the facts pertaining to the officers, organization and business methods of a bank.
In November, 1880, the Larimer County Bank was incorporated under the laws of Colorado. On Monday, January 3, 1881, the Larimer County Bank commenced business with the following officers and directors: Franklin C. Avery, President; Noah Bristol, Vice-President; Charles P. Scott, Cashier; William G.
Bixby, Daniel Hawks, Abraham L. Emigh and Edgar Avery. At a meeting of the Board of Directors, December 21, 1881, it was decided to convert The Larimer County Bank into "The First National Bank of Fort Collins," and, on January 31, 1882, the organization certificate was granted by the Comptroller of the Currency.
The founder of the bank, Mr. Franklin C. Avery, has served as President continuously since its organization in 1881.
Since then its growth has kept pace with the magnificent development of this rich valley in which it is located, and its increasing business has necessitated the construction of a new banking house.
