Don Brown, Fort Collins Artist: Oral Histories and Finding Aid

The Don Brown Collection consists of 6 boxes of photographs, scrapbooks, newspaper articles, and miscellaneous ephemera portraying his career, hobbies, and travel. The two oral histories of Bob Hoyt and Don Brown also provide detailed information of their youthful exploits, friends, and deep friendship through the years. When they were in High School, they hung out with the same people and took the same classes. They built race cars and motorcycles together, and attended races in Denver, Fort Collins, and other Colorado towns. After serving in World War II, Bob continued his hobby by starting his own motorcycle shop, Acme Machine Company, on N. College Avenue. Hoyt's motorcycles won races throughout the country, including Sturgis, South Dakota. Bob died in 2006 and his son now carries on the tradition.
